Sonora Snickerdoodles

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Llano Seco lard or shortening
  • 1 ½ cup sugar 
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups Sonora Wheat Flour 

Topping Mixture

  • 2 tsp sugar mixed with 2 tsp cinnamon


DIRECTIONS

  1. Thoroughly mix lard and sugar together.
  2. Add cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and mix well. 
  3. Add 2 eggs and mix. 
  4. Add flour, one cup at a time, and slowly mix until dough can be easily rolled into balls. (All flour may not be needed, adjust accordingly to dough texture)
  5. Roll dough into 1" balls and roll balls in cinnamon/ sugar topping mixture 
  6. Bake, un an uncreased cookie sheet, at 400 degrees for 8- 10 minutes. Do not over bake 

Makes 4 dozen cookies.
