Jacob's Cattle

This chubby and compact kidney-shaped bean is white with brown-purple spots and stain markings like a dalmation. It got its popularity in early colonial times on the East Coast, as Jacob's Cattle beans hail from Prince Edward Island and are one of many bean varieties that are native to North America. Jacob’s Cattle is a preserved crop on Slow Food’s Ark of Taste: forgotten varietals that we must grow and eat to save. It has a dense, fruity and deeply rich flavor that is known for its aroma and holds up to long cooking times. Our Jacob's Cattle heirloom beans are estate grown and responsibly farmed.
